Food
Gold miners usually ate eggs, bread, beans, a bit of meat, damper, a simple
bread made of flour, salt and water that was cooked over an open camp fire.

At first, people lived in tents, but later on huts made from canvas, wood and bark were built.

Health
Eye problems infected the the miners, just as much as the insects. Flies, ants, centipedes, scorpions and red back spiders were found on the goldfields, they would smother the food the miners had and made them bad enough not to eat.
Many couldn't shower on the road and digging for gold got miners covered in dirt so they had to go on with dirty clothes and sweaty skin.
There weren't many doctors on the goldfields, and those that were sick were charged a large amount of money for a check up.

Language
Immigrants that migrated from China spoke Cantonese, that caused problems because people couldn't understand them and they couldn't communicate properly.
Religion
When the Chinese migrated to Australia to dig up some gold, they were Buddhist and many others in Australia were Christian.
